Everyday Heroes

Taylor and Madison Louzon

Taylor and Madison Louzon

Everyday heroes are not just ordinary people. They do things that inspire, amaze and intrigue others. And they do so much more. I have two beautiful daughters that are both everyday heroes in their own unique way.

On June 2, 2006, our lives changed forever. My three year old , Taylor shared a butterfly sticker with then nine month old Madison. Madison choked on this sticker and was rushed to the local Emergency Department. To our shock and disbelief the doctors saw a lesion on her chest x-ray. Three weeks later Madison was diagnosed with Stage III Neuroblastoma that had already spread to her spine. She quickly underwent major surgery to remove the tumor in her chest and later started chemotherapy which is currently ongoing.

We never would have imagined that Taylor was a heroine and saved Madison’s life. Taylor remains strong and extremely supportive during our journey with cancer. She holds Madison’s hand when she gets pokes, she checks on her to ensure that her sister is well and showers her with tender kisses and hugs everyday. She was sent to rescue Madison.

Madison is the strongest little girl that I’ve ever seen. She has endured countless tests, procedures, pokes and ongoing chemotherapy. Throughout this painful journey she continues to smile, laugh and demonstrate the most precious gift, love.

She is too little to speak, too little to express how she feels, too little to defend herself. Yet she always manages to reassure us and make us realize what life is all about. Madison has made us believe, she has instilled faith and hope, she gives me strength when I am weak and she encourages us to dream.

She is a miracle God gave to me.
